Nine stars. One luminous vision.

Every year, as Matariki rises above the horizon, it calls us to pause — to remember those we've lost, to give thanks for the harvest, and to look forward with hope. This canvas print captures that sacred moment: nine glowing celestial beings, each one a star of the Matariki cluster, rendered in luminous white against a deep cosmic sky.

At the heart of the composition, Matariki herself radiates outward — guardian of wellbeing and herald of the Māori New Year. Around her, each star carries its own wairua: Pōhutukawa holds the spirits of those who have passed; Tipuānuku tends the earth's harvest; Waitī watches over rivers and streams; Waitā over the ocean; Waipunarangi speaks to the rain; Ururangi commands the wind; Tipuārangi calls to the forests and birds; and Hiwa-i-te-rangi, the wishing star, carries our hopes for the year ahead.
