Canvas Art FAQ
Sizing & Scale
Are the dimensions listed the exact finished size?
Yes. All dimensions (width × height) refer to the finished, printed canvas size. No additional border or bleed extends beyond the stated measurement. If you are ordering for a specific wall space, measure the area carefully and allow at least 5–10 cm of clearance on each side for visual breathing room.
Will the image look the same at a larger scale?
Our files are prepared at high resolution so detail remains sharp at every available size. If you are unsure which size suits your space, photograph the wall, note its dimensions, and we can advise before you order.
Colour Accuracy
Will the colours on my screen match the printed canvas?
Every screen displays colour differently depending on brightness, contrast, and colour-profile settings. We print using professional-grade pigment inks on calibrated equipment, so the canvas is as faithful to the artwork as modern printing allows. Expect colours to appear richer and slightly deeper on the physical canvas than on most screens — this is normal and expected.
Materials
What is the canvas made from?
We use a premium poly-cotton blend canvas stretched over solid kiln-dried pine frames. The surface is coated with a UV-resistant satin varnish to protect against fading and moisture.
Are the inks lightfast?
Yes. We use archival pigment inks rated for 75+ years under normal indoor display conditions away from direct sunlight.
Framing & Mounting
Do the canvases arrive ready to hang?
Yes. Every canvas ships with a pre-installed hanging kit on the back — no additional framing is required. Simply choose your wall position and hang.
Can I frame a canvas print?
Standard gallery-wrap canvases are designed to hang without a frame, but they can be placed inside a floating frame for a more traditional look. There is also print on high gallery grade paper options for you to frame.
What hanging hardware is included?
Each canvas includes a double-tooth picture hook rated for the weight of the piece, along with wall anchors and screws suitable for both plasterboard and solid walls.
Packing & Shipping Protection
How is the canvas protected during shipping?
Canvases are individually wrapped in acid-free tissue, corner-protected with foam guards, and boxed in double-wall cardboard specifically sized for each piece. Larger canvases are additionally braced with internal cardboard dividers to prevent flex during transit.
How long does shipping take?
Domestic New Zealand orders typically arrive within 3–7 business days after production. Production takes 2–4 business days. You will receive a tracking link once your order is dispatched.
Canvas Care
How do I clean my canvas?
Dust lightly with a clean, dry microfibre cloth. Avoid water, chemical cleaners, and abrasive materials — these can damage the varnish and ink layer.
Where should I hang my canvas?
Display away from direct sunlight, high humidity (bathrooms, steamy kitchens), and heat sources such as fireplaces or radiators. These conditions can cause warping, fading, or canvas relaxation over time.
What if the canvas starts to sag?
Minor sagging can occur with changes in humidity. Most canvases include expansion keys (small wooden wedges) in the corner slots of the frame. Gently tapping these in with a mallet will re-tension the canvas.
Damage & Discrepancies
What if my order arrives damaged?
Please inspect your canvas on arrival. If it has been damaged in transit, photograph the damage and the packaging immediately and contact us within 48 hours of delivery. We will arrange a replacement at no cost to you.
What if the product looks different from what I ordered?
If you believe there is a print error, colour defect, or the wrong item has been sent, contact us within 7 days of delivery with clear photographs. We will review and, where the fault is ours, replace or refund the item.
Do you accept change-of-mind returns?
